We love what we do, and are always looking for enthusiastic, like-minded people to share our journey with.  Are you one of those people?

We look for character rather than personality.  Do you think you are a person of character?  Does helping other people float your boat?  What gets us out of bed in the morning is knowing that sometime today, we are going to positively impact someone’s life.  Do you genuinely believe that things can be changed for the better?  Talk is cheap: we need people who have a proven ability of turning intentions into actions, preferably by helping in the community in some way.

While we do require a completed tertiary qualification, we need it to show us that you understand the value of education, that you can read and study, that you can think critically, and you can finish what you start.  We’re not too fussy about formal work experience, as long as you have worked previously, even if it was only in your holidays.

Do you enjoy travelling?  We are an international company, and we are growing steadily internationally.  Our teams operate on the client’s site, wherever the client may be.  Mines are normally outside of the cities, and many of our clients operate outside of SA.  You will be working on site from your first day with us.  There is no option of an ‘office’ for you to spend time at – you are either on site adding value for our clients, or you are on leave.  We need people who are not scared of hard work, and don’t mind working in strange places, sometimes at strange hours.  You need to have your own transport, and a valid SA drivers licence

Are you a team player?  No, really.  Our site teams are small.  You need to be comfortable operating interdependently in a small team.  Small teams have high levels of transparency and accountability, but also provide lots of opportunity for growth and empowerment.  We have no titles and no organisational levels.  Respect is earned, not awarded.

Are you consistent in word and deed?  Principles are very important to us.  We believe that going to church on Sundays doesn’t make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.   Behaviour is everything.  We want people who have solid principles and ethics, and actually live their lives according to their principles.  We always try to do the right thing for our clients, even if it hurts us in the short term.

Do you consider yourself to be open minded? We need people who are curious about the world around them, can think critically and independently, appreciate that change is a part of life, and are looking for personal growth. Although we have been around since 1995, Behaviour Engineering as we do it is still new, dynamic and very much under development. We know we don’t have all the answers, but we do think that we have most of the questions.

Lastly, you need to be sound of mind and body, as they used to say. You have to physically be able to travel to and from site by yourself, and you need to be able to move around the client’s environment, which, in mining, can involve lots of climbing up and down things.

It’s not about the money.  Our salary packages are negotiable.  You tell us what you think you are worth, and what value you think you can add for that money.  If we agree with your number, that’s what we will pay you.  But we will hold you accountable to make sure that the deal stays mutually beneficial.

If we look like a good fit for you, email your CV below, and we’ll tell you whether we agree or not. Hey, what’s the worst that could happen?
